Taking your anger out on service folks is low rent. When you flip out on a valet, salesgirl, or waiter, you are telling the world, “ I have no power in my real life. I’m going to make you think that I’m important by exerting control over this miniscule situation.” Clearly, this sort of behavior is not even a smidge flattering and should be avoided. The next time someone takes a while to get your car, flubs your order, or rings something up incorrectly, polity and humbly express your distain. Chances are, they’ll be more inclined to help you if you’re gracious.
