Sore Throat - The Most Frequent Cause For A Visit To A Pediatrician

Pharyngitis is the medical term used for sore throat and it is the most common cause of visit to the pediatrics. It is not something fatal but more kind of annoying. Strep throat is the chief concern for people having sore throat. This can be ruled out with a help of throat culture.

In 15% cases bacteria are the cause, GABHS being the most prevalent bacteria. Certain facts can prove to be helpful in differentiating between viral and bacterial sore throats such as the information that viruses, besides causing sore throat, also result in red eyes, cough, stuffy nose and extreme fatigue.

As per survey, virus is the major cause of sore throat, the reason being the contagious nature of the viruses that cause sore throat.

Sore throat brings with it pain and discomfort. Various sore throat cures are known which have been handed down from the grandparents to their children and then to their children. The effectiveness of these remedies cannot be doubted as they offer immediate relief.

Contrary to the common belief, viral sore throat have no cure as virus completes its cycle in human body for sure and leaves only after it has done so. However, doctors prescribe antibiotics so that the patient won't become prone to any infection.

Addition of raw garlic in everyday meal helps to keep virus and bacteria at an arm's length. Equally effective are the mucilaginous herbs such as blackberry and marshmallows.

Honey and cayenne pepper continue to be the perfect remedy for this. Gargling with lukewarm water containing four tablespoon apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon of lemon juice, one tablespoon honey and half teaspoon cayenne pepper is also effective. This gives instant result.

Herbal throat lozenges are another method to cure it. The best thing about these natural cures is that it cures not only the sore throat but the cause too.
